Our investment philosophy is to offer a team approach that fully integrates our strong research capabilities to add value at each stage in the investment management process. Our research provides a disciplined and consistent framework for the exercise of fund and asset managers' individual skill and flair. We pay particular attention to this area. Specifically the outputs from our Research team are designed for practical application in asset allocation, stock selection and ongoing asset management. We consider that our analytical approach and this close teamwork between fund managers, asset managers and the research analysts differentiates us from our competitors.

All of our portfolios are run in strict adherence to client investment guidelines. However, the individual fund manager is encouraged to exercise significant entrepreneurial spirit within a portfolio. A high proportion of property out-performance comes from good stock selection and strong active management, and the fund manager is regarded as accountable for these. However, the ultimate control lies with the Investment Committee, reducing client exposure to the decision making ability of individuals, and drawing on the collective experience of Aberdeen Property Investors senior investment team.
